Big changes in this patch 13 have been added to StarCraft II Beta! Just to list some: custom maps now playable on Battle.net, Facebook is integrated now, 3v3 and 4v4 modes are enabled, no more copper league; diamond league is after platinum league, no more identifier in character name, and more. Check out the spoiler for full list of changes:

Blizzard has just announced that the first phase of StarCraft II Beta will end on Monday, May 31st, so that they can make hardware and software changes. They will open a final beta phase for a couple weeks before the actual release of StarCraft II.

Small patch came out today:

Balance Changes

  • PROTOSS
    • Forge
      • Build time increased from 35 to 45.
      • Life and shield values decreased from 550/550 to 400/400.
    • Mothership
      • Vortex now removes Force Fields within its area of effect.
  • TERRAN
    • Thor
      • Radius decreased from 1.375 to 0.8125.
      • Model size reduced to match new radius.
  • ZERG
    • Roach
      • Supply count increased from 1 to 2.

User Interface

  • Several Hotkey changes have been made (German client only).

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a crash which sometimes occurred when quitting the program.

Blizzard has announced that it expects to release StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty in stores starting July 27, 2010!

It appears that there are quite a lot of people who want to be involved in the StarCraft II Beta… Guess what? This is your chance to win your own key from icyHell! There aren’t enough keys for everyone who want one, but there will be three winners chosen!

To enter in the contest, just follow these simple steps:

Blizzard has released the StarCraft II Beta client for Mac users to play in North American servers! If you use a Mac, you can now download the new client at http://www.battle.net and start playing. Other regions and languages will be supported later in the future for the Mac beta.

Well, that was fast, a small patch #10 came out to fix a couple of bugs.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Larva were not dying after being cancelled.
  • Fixed an issue with Banelings, Brood Lords, and Overseers obeying their original Hatchery’s rally point.
